  • never matches real peaks

    By Mobi194
is usually off by a 90 degree turn of your body or more. I’ve used several times around colorado front range and in the back country and it almost never matches the peaks correctly. People probably aren’t giving bad reviews because they have no idea of any of the peaks names so they don’t know the app is totally wrong. So it is fine as a play toy but don’t ever rely on it for navigation or rescue - or any situation where you really had to know the peaks name for sure.
  • Wow!

Augmented Reality! You have to try it! I love this app and I use it every time I go hiking. Really fun to properly identify the mountains you look at every day.
  • Excellent improvements, great app

I bought this app many years ago. I loved the offline capability but it was not great. However this year there has been a huge amount of improvements and Im loving it. Relief shading and 'flying' navigation works really well. Augmented Reality worked great in Rocky Mountain National Park. Also much better mountain labeling. I recommend this app to all my friends and when I show them they are impressed. Great app when backpacking or backcountry skiing.
  • Great update

I've had Peak Finder since version 2. This update runs much smoother and add AR. The last version was getting unusable, but this brings it back to life. I use it all the time with Boy Scouts when we are out hiking. It makes a great companion to a topo map.
  • A Beautiful Tool for Hikers

This is a must-have for hikers and climbers that want to know more about they're surroundings.
  • Best App on my Phone!

Not just the best navigation app. It is the best app on my phone. Truly an amazing demonstration of smartphone technology. Love to show it off to friends. Highly reliable, easy to use and supported. No cell signal needed! Whenever you are in a mountainous area, you will want to pull up the app. Don't know what I would do without this app.

  • Super slick little app

    By sandrifting
I've been using this app for several years now, most recently during a drive down through Colorado and into New Mexico. It's so enjoyable to be able to know what mountains you're looking at; all you have to do is hold up your phone in the direction of the peaks you're interested in. The addition of some shading to show relief is a nice touch and helps with orientation.

  • PeakFinder and iPhone

The June 2017 updates work great. A few months ago it seemed that you had to take your phone out of airplane mode to get PeakFinder to work. I was able to use PeakFinder in airplane mode yesterday. Of course I like the newer graphics and UI much better than what they were a year ago.
