  • Great idea but too many frustrations

    By Mattys Dad
I’ve had a plex pass for six months now and have completely converted all of my media to the system. It works for the most part on my hard-wired network at home. Where it is really lacking is on wireless networks, whether in my house or out and about. I’m sitting in my house right now waiting for the latest episode of This Is Us to play on my phone. I’ve cut the quality down to 480p at 1.5mbs and am still waiting for the show to start playing five minutes after pushing play. I’m the only person on my network and nothing else is using WiFi. Ironically I can use Netflix with zero delay. Why does Netflix work and plex not? Couple this with the frustrations in using plex in general and I’m seriously rethinking whether going this route was the right choice. I’ve read in the boards that grid scheduling is coming. It needs to be here now! Does anyone know how to find what channel a show was recorded on after the show has been recorded? I’m recording old episodes of This Old House and am getting the same episode 5 - 10 times because it’s playing on different stations, but I don’t know which stations because that data isn’t saved with the program. Also, when I have a conflict for three series I’m recording how do I manually adjust which show I want to record? The only way I’ve found to change the shows that plex thinks I want is by canceling an entire season of one show to get that one episode of the other show to record. There should be a way to cancel just one episode of a show without changing an entire series. Cmon guys. Do we really need a buggy commercial editor when so many of the basic functions of a DVR are missing? Please put ALL of your resources on grid scheduling. If that doesn’t show up soon I’m gonna bail.

I finally took the plunge a year ago and just finished watching my local news which was captured using Plex DVR and my antenna (I run Plex on a NAS). I routinely dvr movies on tv station and can watch them commercial free. Take the plunge - get started!
  • Great Media Portal

Plex is s fantastic way to access all of your personal media no matter the device or the format. It also works great for sharing access to your collection with family and friends. Keep up the good work 👍🏾
  • Terrific App

Plex performs pretty much as advertised. Only problem I’ve encountered so far is a few times when the connection between Plex and my AppleTV just suddenly dropped. Has happened from both my iPad and iPhone. Leaves only Plex and the AppleTV as suspects. Overall it’s a great system and I recommend it to anybody.
  • Fantastic. I love Plex.

Ever since I found out about Plex I have been their biggest fan. I love how easy it is to set things up, how much they care about their customer base, and all the new features they are always working on. You’re going places, Plex. This app is very very polished and works perfectly. Never have troubles with it. Great job!
  • Costly

Your subscription doesn't carry over to your iPad if you subscribe on a iPhone. So you end up paying multiple times to watch your own content on your own devices.
  • Good mobile app but it is really dependent on your server

    By Nerdy Newbie
This is a great app for easing into cord cutting. I originally got it to stream my movie collection, now with my hdhomerun and DVR support it changes the way I watch TV. Don’t go returning all your set top boxes just yet though. The more powerful your Plex server and your home network, the better your overall experience will be, the mobile app is but a small contributor to that. Mobile app crashes really aren’t frequent on my iPhone 6, but streaming and syncing issues from my nvidia shield Plex server can be more than a little annoying. TL;DR Good mobile app make sure you have a good server.
  • Plex has just gone downhill

    By T. Jinkinz
Mediocre and app has never worked on iphone/ipad; never played smoothly without stalling issues (even bringing the quality down to lowest settings didn’t help on lan based set-up), and the whole thing of requiring the server be connected to internet has not helped. Every release seems to bring poorer usability & issues.
  • Game changer. I have one request...

    By Aimless Idler
To make the most of Plex (which is a lot), a sizable user commitment up front is required. It took me quite a while to prepare all my media but once I did I never looked back. Can’t recommend this service enough. I have one request from the developers: in all app clients (iOS, smartTVs, Android, etc): please add a feature to remotely update your libraries! I’ve been stung by this multiple times: load a bunch of new content only to forget to update my libraries on my home server and have the disappointing experience of it being inaccessible when I’m out and about. Would be a huge convenience! Keep up the great work!
